As Cairns is in a very tropical environment, the weather is subject to change at any time. There are two distinct seasons in Cairns – wet and dry. The dry season runs from about May to November each year, with (generally) clear skies and little precipitation. This is the best time of year to be flying, and is also when we are at our busiest.
The wet season runs from mid to late November through until late April, with typical monsoonal weather and the chance of tropical cyclones ever-present. Although some days are written off due to the near-constant rain, at other times, early morning flights during the wet season often bring the smoothest possible conditions.
